Crawley Personal Trainer, measuring up for health

Your Crawley Personal Trainer asks: How do you measure up for fitness?

  • Do you know how to get fit both inside and out?
  • Do you know what your internal balance or state of well-being is, or what it should be?

Most of us understand that it is not just the tape measure that matters, but the scales too.  However, crude sliding scales of weight to height ratios result in nonsense measurements which mean that most rugby players for example would be considered chronically obese as this simple equation cannot differentiate between the weight which is muscle and the weight which is fat- it is just, well, weight really.

Most of us understand that excess body fat means an increased chance of disease such as cancer, diabetes and so forth.

Most of us would like to know what goes on from the inside, as well as what we look like from the outside and how effective our bodies are for our chosen sports and recreational activities.  We equally understand that a modern lifestyle will not be a supporter of natural balance.  We are going to have to manage our health, weight and well-being.  At the other end of the scale, elite athletes want to know their state of hydration, and their body fat percentage in order to better be able to compete effectively.

Most of us would like to understand if we are in “healthy range” for such measurements.

Add in measurements for bone density (reflecting as it does, levels of calcium and minerals in the body) and the amount of calories to be consumed to maintain this weight, and we can be in much greater control of how we live and how we train our bodies.

Nutritional guidance is also included, to give you the best basis for success.

Your Crawley Personal Trainer has at his disposal a secret weapon at his disposal in ensuring that you are fit to get fit.  Contact me to find our more, Hugh.

Crawley Personal Trainer Nutrition

Crawley Personal Trainer Nutrition

As your personal trainer in Crawley, it has taken forever for me to feel confident in suggesting any nutritional supplements for health.

Changing nutritional levels in foods, owing to how they are farmed, or in the case of poultry and cattle, raised, means that even natural foods lack the balance that they used to.  Whilst the arguments for supplements still continue, my own view is that it is rarely an “ideal world” when it comes to balancing diet and all of the derived benefits of vitamins, protein, carbohydrates, trace elements, hydration, and so forth.  The so-forth might included intestinal health, scarcely something that we can ignore.

Most of us have turned to supplements at some point or other, whether it is a vitamin C boost, when we feel a cold coming on, or multi-vitamins when we are under a lot of stress, or during pregnancy.  Such supplements are scarcely without their advocates in other branches of complementary medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine, or Ayurvedic traditions.

Equally, even if we simply listened to our friends, the benefits of detoxification are obvious to friends who look bright eyed and clear skinned, as a result of detoxing.  We know what we might need, we know what might do us good, but there is s very mixed picture our there as to what is available, and even more so, the consistency, and quality of what is on the market.  Most of us tend to adopt a pick and mix approach to nutritional supplements, buying some from the high street, some from mail order, some from friends, and even raiding the out of date carton in the bathroom cabinet.

If you think it is appropriate, or necessary to take supplements, quality, purity, consistency, price, value, and a balanced approach to the situations we most need addressed should be necessities, in my view.  In other words, a packaged approach for our general well being, detoxifications, intestinal health, and specific energy needs, is sensible.  I want the hard work done for me, in that it is made easy to understand and easy to adopt the best products into my lifestyle, with the minimum of fuss.

For that reason, your Crawley Personal Trainer has detailed over here http://mckenna-health.co.uk/nutritional-support the specific products, and brand of products that is has taken me 25 years of direct and client-related experience to be decided upon.

I think that it is well worth having waited for.

More soon, Hugh.

Westy's Warriors Snowdon Chjallenge

Crawley Personal Trainer Updates on Westy's Warriors Snowdon race.

Progress towards Snowdon.

At present, the 5 car convoy is making its way past Wolverhampton, to Bangor, where they will camp overnight at Treborth Hall Farm, before doing things involving endurance, stamina, sheer determination and bloody mindedness, as well as laughing a fair amount.  No Red Bulls, no vodka, nothing...honest!  Well, at least not for the drivers.

It is nearly 5 o'clock on Friday the 8th of July, Hugh is now in Wales, albeit runing three hours later than hoped for- ho hum.

Rumours of imbibing by his passengers are probably true.  But not for driver Hugh.  A cosy night in the tent beckons, and then tomorrow, the Snowdon push, with the most important person being in the wheelchair is on!  Slots from 7.15 are allocoated on the day.  The event is to promote awareness of spinal injiury, and Barry West is our man.  Barry is  a tetraplegic person as a result of car accident in his teens, and also there will be @andywack (Fecebook) Andy being the actor from Emmerdale...Andy was standing in waist deep water when, as a young man, he decided to dive and broke his neck on a sandbank.

It could happen to any of us, at any time.  More soon...

Or later as it happens, this being posted by candidandy on Twitter as Hugh is presently barrelling BACK down Snowdon, the team having ascended in 2.20 and now on a total time of just north of 3 hours.  The ascent was much qucker than anticipated, but harder.  As is the descent which is a matter of going as fast as is sensible to do so, whilst not allowing the chair, not to mention Bazza West in it, getting away from them.  You have got to wish Baarry West a happy birthday.  Drearm it, and live it.  The same rule for all of us- life is what you make of it.

More soon, Hugh is going to call when they make it down.

And he has:  previous best time 6.20 this time: 4.14, crikey!!!!  Down is harder than up, with the chair tending to run away from the team, and the team ARE THE BRAKES.  There are no brakes as such on the chair.  Just imagine the trust that Barry has to put in others?

Anyhow- some of the Warriors had to cleart the descent path of walkers, who were in danger of getting run over.  Beer is apparently good for replacing calories, Hugh and Barry say.  I don't think that many of the Warriors will need strong arming on that one...

The overall times are being released later guys..

A near midnight call from Hugh- Barry West, Team Westy's Warriors and your Crawley Personal Trainer apparently placed third equal overall, and smashed the WW best time.  It is obviously not1999, but the party was pretty similar, as Hugh was having difficulties speaking with a shredded voice. Dan, a team member also spoke, and pride and achievement in this team achievement shone through.  They all feel that the team aspect is the most important angle on the whole thing, with Barry being at the hub of it.  the trust element, the effort element, based on planning and training, working towards a goal, achieving it and more was something that was going on for everyone who took part and not just Westy's Warriors.  The message is clear, we can do so much more than we think we can- and team work and belonging to a bigger cause and having a reason to believe is what bonds us and makes all things possible.

Soon, the recoery and the return, to be followed by how this sort of stuff applies to personal traiining and discovering your "REASON WHY".

But before that, an update.  It appears that Westy's Warriors set the fastest time ever for a "tetraplegic team" on this course.  It was gruelling and the downhill on the return hurts more now than the uphill, trying slam the brakes on, so to speak, on loose shale and scree is very hard work, and all sorts of things get yanked, and pulled.

I guess that I am going to have to take some of Crawley Personal Trainer advice and get warmed up in a pool, do some stretches, and rest well, and recover.

Hugh.

interval training, just thought that this was fab!!

Supplemental Health

Crawley Personal Trainer in the USA to collect Nature's Sunshine Award on behalf of Westy's Warriors

Today, at last, I had the opportunity to visit the very plant in Utah where the vitamins and minerals I recommend are manufactured.

I did not know what to expect.  I already knew that the products were of the highest quality I had ever come across and I was 100% comfortable that my recommending the products was ethically, professionally and personally beneficial to my clients health.

Today, I was blown away.  Not least by the most amazing reserch and development, amazing depth of quality control, mind-bending knowledge of the raw materials that they work with, but something that I hold dear, but rarely see in others in this industry- TOTAL PASSION, PRIDE AND DEDICATION TO BEING THE BEST THAT THEY CAN BE.

And they are without question, globally the best- gloabally- FACT!!

I talked to person after person, who had worked for Nature's Sunshine for 5, 10, 15, 20 and even 30 years.  It was wonderful in that they loved not just their products but their jobs and their employers.  They were happy, they were content, they were proud!! Taking pride in doing what they do, how they do it, and why they do it.

I have always strived to meet the people I do business with and to ensure that they are both skilled and qualified to do what they do.  After today, I am so happy and proud to be in a position that most suppliers or recomminders of vitamins and minerals never get to be in.  I have always gone the extra mile for my clients wellness.  It might have, on this occasion taken a trip of thousands of mies to achieve the feeling of security in recommending products that are "simply the best" but it is so worth it.

I know that I am recommending products that are simply the best of the best.  But, please don't take my word for it, call me, and I will come to you, to discuss the best sources and choices of nutritional support.

Before hand you could go to www.Mckenna-health.co.uk and take the free health analysis.

For 18 years I have refused to recommend any vitamins and minerals without the sound knowledge that they can do what they say they can.  In my opinion, Nature's Sunshine does exactly this, however, they have removed any element of risk: take the health analysis and try any product you like and if it does not match up to expectations, you can get your money back.

Nature's Sunshine know their products work, I knew they did, now, having looked under the bonnet so to speak I can completely understand why they work.

Get fit from the inside out.

Yours, pasisionately, Hugh McKenna
